About

Highland Park Black Belt Academy

HPBBA opened its doors in 2005 with the goal of developing an individual’s mental and physical well being through a deliberate and highly professional method of martial arts training.

Aside from its powerful techniques, TaeKwon-Do’s focus is primarily educational. At our Academy, your child will learn not only physical training and discipline but mental training and discipline as well, skills they need to be successful in school and in life.

At the Academy, entire families can train together in a positive and friendly environment that’s safe and fun. Many who train with us say they’ve become more productive at work and have a feeling of increased overall wellness.

From the four-year-old child who develops self-confidence and self-esteem through training, to the 62-year-old student who gives hope and inspiration to us all, our studio is a great place to make friends and serves as a support system to our community and the families involved in our program.

What is TaeKwon-Do

Founded centuries ago in Korea, this ancient combat sport is among the world’s most widely practiced martial arts. It teaches self-defense, strategy, self-respect, respect of others, and is empowering to both children and adults. It’s also terrific exercise for any age.

Our Academy’s established curriculum offers high-quality instruction taught by our Certified Black Belt instructors. The sport utilizes both hands and feet, with a greater emphasis on kicking – thus distinguishing it from karate, judo or kung fu. Loosely translated, TaeKwon-Do means “the way of the foot and fist.”
